Hey there! I'm Eldin Fajkovic, and I'm an architect with a passion for transforming how we experience and interact with our built environment. I believe architecture is more than just structures; it's a storyteller that shapes our emotions, thoughts, and daily lives. From the spaces we wander through to the places where we sleep, eat, and reflect, architecture inspires us, especially as we tackle the challenges of the 21st century.
In this dynamic era, it's essential to see our environment not just as static buildings but as vibrant ecosystems—ever-changing and full of life. My mission? To push the boundaries of the built environment and embrace the beauty of impermanence.
Recognizing that nothing lasts forever, we should think beyond our own lifetimes. Buildings, as temporary creations, should be demountable, bio-based, and circular. They should inspire everyone who encounters them with the idea of transience. Instead of "forever concrete until dust," let's imagine "temporary assemblies until they're re-mounted or repurposed."
I earned my MSc in Architecture and the Built Environment in 2016, specializing in Computation & Performance within the innovative Hyperbody group. In 2020, I proudly became a registered architect with the Architects' Registration Bureau.
My architectural journey is fueled by three main passions: sustainability, circular design, and parametric design processes. I'm particularly captivated by digital-driven and algorithmic design, interactive environments, and digital fabrication. These interests drive my commitment to developing cutting-edge solutions that blend technology and architecture seamlessly.
After completing my studies, I joined Sustainer Homes, a trailblazing startup committed to drastically reducing the CO2 footprint of the building industry with CNC-fabricated wooden modular architecture. At Sustainer Homes, I focused on creating sustainable modular building systems and exploring the potential for parametrizing the design workflow. This approach enables mass customization, robotic production, and automation in architecture.
During my time at Sustainer Homes, I led the development and architectural design of the groundbreaking Box-in-Box system. This innovative concept led to several successful projects and ultimately the founding of Respace, a company dedicated to pushing the limits of circular design, parametric methods, and CNC-milled architecture.
Join me on this transformative journey as we redefine the role of architecture in our ever-evolving world. Together, we can create sustainable, adaptable, and inspiring spaces that truly resonate with the essence of our temporariness. Let's build a future that's as dynamic and vibrant as the ecosystems we inhabit!
My name is Eldin Fajkovic, and I am an architect who believes that the built environment profoundly impacts our emotions, thoughts, and ideas on a daily basis. We interact with it in various ways, from wandering through its spaces to sleeping, eating, and reflecting within it. Architecture tells a story that inspires us, especially as we confront the numerous challenges of the 21st century. In this era, it is crucial to shift our relationship with the environment, viewing it not merely as a structure but as an ecosystem—a dynamic and ever-changing entity. My journey revolves around pushing the boundaries of the built environment, embracing the concept of temporariness.
Recognizing that nothing lasts forever, we must think beyond our own lifetimes. Buildings, as temporary assemblies, should be constructed accordingly: demountable, bio-based, and circular. They ought to inspire users, visitors, and admirers alike with the idea of transience. Instead of forever concrete until dust, we should envision temporary assemblies until they are re-mounted or repurposed.
